crystal ball, save us all, tell me life is beautiful

I've been so busy with school lately I've barely had time to blog (or shop!). I've fallen in the trap of dressing down almost every day for class, something I don't like to get in the habit of, baggy sweatshirts aren't the most flattering! But mostly I like the way I feel when I get up and put on a outfit I truly like. Isn't that the best feeling? Sorry all these pictures are indoors, I normally snap pictures quickly before I walk out the door. Hopefully soon I'll have enough time to go outside for photoshoots! If only......

LBD

A staple in any wardrobe: The Little Black Dress. I have had an affinity lately towards my personal collection of them (which seems to grow every month). The LBD is great for every occasion (BF was taking me out for a nice dinner!), in any setting, at any time. Anyways, I love it.

First Outfit of the Semester!

Now that school has officially started, I can finally get back to posting regularly! It's been cold here, but with the right layers everything works. I recently purchased a pair of Hunter Boots in both black and green and they are GREAT for the snow and match with about everything.

This has to be one of my favorite outfits of the moment. It's easy to wear and super comfortable. The fabric of the shirt is a little thin, though, so it is definitely necessary to wear something underneath! I had never owned a pair of Rich & Skinny jeans before these, and they are so comfortable even on the first wear--and have cool leopard print lining around the waist and purple stitch details.

Something Old, Something New

No! Not related to weddings! Anyways, I really like the trend now a days going towards more eco-friendly materials for clothing. Whether it's Tom's shoes (which are soooo comfy and trendy) or reusable bags (those "green" grocery bags actually come in some stylish options!) there are many great options to be environmentally friendly and fashionable at the same time. Ironically, though, my Tom's shoes did come on a plastic hanger with paper tags :) The Barneys Co-Op in my area had these fabulous dresses that I'm pretty sure were made out of recycled materials, but so incredibly pricey. I can't find a picture of it now, but maybe one will come up later.

To Choose a Tote

As back to school approaches, I have been endlessly looking for a new tote to carry around. I used to be much more of a backpack person, but once I was converted I never looked back. I have been carrying around the Marc Jacobs Totally Turnlock Teri Tote for the better part of 2 years, and thought it was time for a change. The Turnlock was great because of its two open pockets where I could put my notebooks, but middle zipper where I could put my keys/cellphone/wallet without it getting lost in the shuffle. Also, the two front pockets are great for putting little items like nailfiles and chapstick (and a recorder if you're a nerd like me)!

I ended up with the Tory Burch Jaden Tote but it was a hard choice. I may have to go back and grab some other ones that I absolutely loved, but weren't as practical for carrying books.

Others that I loved:
Carlos Falchi Microfiber shopping tote. This bag didn't seem like it would support the weight of books and my other random nicknacks. I do like the little makeup back it comes with though, because often times the problem I have with totes is my stuff getting lost at the bottom!
Burberry Packable Nylon Tote. They had this one in a blue/grey, and it was great. I may have to go pick it up in the future. The nylon material would also be good for bad weather!

Crazy for plaid

My obsession this season has been plaid button-ups, no doubt. You can dress them up, dress them down, button them up or down, it's perfect! I have to stop myself from buying too many when I go out shopping. I also recently just purchased the Jeffrey Campbell tick wedges. I wasn't too crazy about them when I saw them online, but after I tried them on in the store it was love. I had to get a half size too big because it was the last pair!
